René Westerholt

René is a PhD student at the University of Heidelberg. He received his Bachelor of Science as well as Master of Science degree from the University of Osnabrück (Germany) where he graduated in Geoinformatics. His recent research deals with the exploration and detection of mass convergence events (with a focus on music festivals) via analyzing Twitter data. René further collaborates with the Botanical Garden of the University of Osnabrück. The goal here is the application of GI-Science technologies in botany to assist the collection of wild plant seeds that are stored under frozen conditions in a gene bank.
