Claudia Knudson graduated from the University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography with an Emphasis in Geographic Information Science, and a minor in Spatial Studies. Her Senior year’s coursework included internships and an independent study with archeologist Dr. Anabel Ford, Director of the MesoAmerican Research Center (MARC) based at UCSB. The study with Dr. Ford was centered on the field site of El Pilar Reserve for Flora and Fauna, an area bordering Belize and Guatemala. The work included determining relevant GPS data to Bare Earth mapping, processing LiDAR data, and identifying land use and land cover change as revealed through Landsat images spanning a twenty year period. Claudia’s interest lie in the further development of her GIS and Remote Sensing skills.
