Dr. Robert Homsher (PhD 2013, UCL) is an archaeologist with expertise in geospatial technologies, particularly UAV (drone) imagery acquisition and processing. He uses large imagery datasets to generate 3D digital models of landscapes, features, and objects. He was appointed College Fellow in
NELC in AY 2014-2015 and AY 2015-2016, and co-taught Anthropology 2020 GIS and Spatial Analysis in Archaeology with Prof. Jason Ur in Spring 2016. Dr. Homsher’s UAV-based photogrammetric techniques (sometimes called “Structure from Motion” or SfM) are being employed in a range of Humanities and Social Sciences disciplines with increasing frequency. While visiting, he will assist the CGA in support of SfM research.
